Alison was born and raised in the Edmonton area and obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science at the University of Alberta. She travelled east to Saskatoon for law school and received a LLB at the University of Saskatchewan in 2003. Alison also spent time working for the Federal Department of Citizenship and Immigration in Vancouver, British Columbia while in law school. Alison returned to Alberta to article with a large national law firm in downtown Calgary in 2003 and was drawn to the areas of civil and insurance litigation before being admitted to the Alberta Bar in January, 2005. From her mutual interests in court room litigation and the negotiation of settlements, Alison focused her practice in the areas of divorce and family law.

Alison acts in both contested and uncontested family law matters and has experience in drafting Separation, Co-habitation and Pre-nuptial agreements. She has also successfully appeared before the Provincial Court of Alberta, the Court of Queen’s Bench, and Court of Appeal for custody, access, and matrimonial property actions. Alison is fully trained as a mediator and is a registered Collaborative lawyer. Alison believes that divorce, custody disputes and separations can be stressful, but having effective and accountable representation can bring the client well needed peace of mind. She believes that every case is different and can assist clients in receiving their specific legal needs: spanning from litigation to alternate dispute resolution.

In her spare time Alison volunteers with the Southern Alberta Greyhound Association, an organization which finds homes in Calgary for retired racing greyhounds, and enjoys travelling and adventure sports. Alison also volunteers for the annual “Law Day” at the Calgary courthouse and usually writes, ‘directs’, and acts in the Children’s Mock Trial.
